
Erika Morant has been declared an Outstanding Colombian Living Abroad by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Colombia through its program, Colombia Nos Une, and in honor of her work as a promoter of Latin American music in China.
Erika studied at the Universidad de Antioquia where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Music Education specializing in classical guitar. She also earned a post-graduate degree in Orchestra Conducting at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She was on a scholarship offered by the government of the People’s Republic of China.

Through the Instituto Cervantes, Erika offered different conferences in the Chinese language highlighting the different music and cultures of the Hispanic countries.
In 2013 Erika Morant created the Coro Biblioteca Cervantes, a musical and cultural project dedicated to the singing of folk and popular music of Latin America. The choir sang for the renowned Colombian artist, Fernando Botero, during the 2016 Botero in China; and in 2018 its recording of La Piragua was highlighted by the National Radio of Colombia.
During 2016-2017, she was a part of the opening team of music performers at Walt Disney Company in Shanghai.
Belonging to a family of amateur musicians; she grew up with her paternal grandmother singing waltzes and Colombian pasillos accompanied by her guitar. She is currently engaged in teaching music, focusing on building choir programs and teaching guitar, while she continues giving lectures about the popular and folkloric music of Latin America.
The CGTN-Spanish channel has made a documentary about her life and ties to Chinese culture.
